Children’s Book Drive
Hillsborough County Public Schools in Tampa, Florida has over 200 elementary, middle and secondary schools that have a library media center staffed by a certified media specialist. The job of the library media specialist is varied and includes: program administration, teaching and collaborating with teachers, using and supporting technology, information literacy, and promoting and reinforcing students’ interests and abilities in reading, listening and viewing.
Each school year, Hillsborough County media specialists facilitate school reading incentive programs called the Battle of the Books and Reading Rumble. AATC will be collecting books to donate to these exciting reading initiatives this year at our conference in Tampa, FL.
